Heat Pump Rebates

Install a high-efficiency heat pump—and get up to $15,000 back.
January 1, 2022: The Sponsors of Mass Save® have proposed substantive updates to residential program offerings as part of the 2022-2024 Energy Efficiency Plan. These updates are pending approval by the Department of Public Utilities, which is anticipated to occur no later than the end of January 2022. Upon approval, this page will reflect the updates to the offers. Rebates submitted prior to the end of January will be processed using the criteria below.
If you are looking for a convenient way to heat and cool your home, consider a heat pump. Heat pumps can efficiently heat your home in the winter and double as a cooling system in the summer—while lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
The Sponsors of Mass Save® are making the purchase and installation of energy-efficient heat pumps affordable for Massachusetts residents.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Whole-Home Rebates: We offer enhanced rebates to customers who install heat pumps for whole-home heating and cooling. To qualify for rebates on whole-home heat pumps, customers must submit a completed Whole-Home Heat Pump Verification form with their rebate form.

Partial-Home/Supplemental Rebates: We offer rebates based on equipment size (tonnage) to customers who install heat pumps to supplement an existing heating system or in just a small section of their home. To qualify for rebates on supplemental (or partial-home) heat pumps, integrated controls must be installed in homes with oil or propane back-up.

AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP REBATES

1. Actual tons are calculated based on AHRI cooling capacity divided by 12,000 BTUs. Rebate amount based on actual tons. ↩
2. Integrated controls are either approved control packages or dual fuel thermostats that switch between a heat pump and a pre-existing heating system. ↩

Integrated Control Rebates (add-on): Customers with existing heat pumps and oil and propane systems that do not currently have integrated controls can receive up to $1,500 when they add them to their systems. These controls can help minimize the use of a boiler or furnace while maximizing the use of a heat pump to get maximum savings and comfort.
